Wherever possible we should do what we find uplifting, what gives us a sense of real purpose. We should follow our joy, for in joy there is happiness, and where there is happiness, spontaneous and spirited service will naturally flow from a full and loving heart. Let us, then, do whatever makes the heart sing, and if ever we should find that our heart is out of tune, then perhaps there is a new song to learn. The True Path is never dull, for as we serve, we also learn. The greatest teacher will inevitably be the best student, and it is well known to such a one that the rate of learning is much enhanced upon the path of loving service.
When aspirants opt to do that which helps the divine Purpose, they are rewarded by a progressive revelation of spiritual reality, which is afforded them due to their enlightened decision. The result is the automatic construction of an ethereal bridge between the Divine and the individual, and every step forward upon that Great Road leading from darkness to light is preparing the way for the next and higher step, drawing ever closer to the sacred mountain-top and the great leap beyond into transcendent and shining glory.
When we begin to walk the True Path we clearly see that it is the Greater Self - the divine Spirit - which is actually in command, and not the personality. Due to their past identification with the separated ego and its self-created worldly illusions, many spiritual aspirants have unwittingly turned away from a true friend and guide - their very own divine Spirit - which has ever been whispering gently and silently to them in its natural predilection to serve the world by way of their personality, patiently waiting for recognition and right response. The all-knowing, all-loving Spirit of Creation will always illumine the mind and heart of one who acts and works in accordance with its wise adjudication, and to follow that Spirit wherever it may indicate is to walk the Lighted Way.
When we follow the natural urge of our innermost being and thus give of ourselves sincerely in helpfulness and in love, the Light of the Spirit is enkindled within us and we know that we are doing something right and good. In genuine service to other manifestations of the One Life, divine Love is bound by cosmic law to manifest, and it is through selfless charity that we may claim our rightful spiritual legacy: the realisation and expression of our own latent divinity. If there ever was one solution to absolutely every problem throughout mankind's history, all the way up to the present, and on into Eternity, it must surely be . . . . serve, and keep serving; give, and never stop giving. For it is in giving that we receive; such is the promise of the insuperable Law of Recompense that returns to the giver many times more than that which they originally gave from a loving heart.
The True Path is certain to lead the devout from the very darkest areas of life into those of empyreal radiance. The purpose, fulfilment, expanding revelation, ever-deepening joy and emancipation upon the road that rises up through all the luminous worlds of Spirit will be known to the one who serves others selflessly. That complete, intelligent and unconditional devotion and one-pointedness of mind that mark the awakened servant of all, provides a refuge in a world of turmoil, and he is as happy as he is divinely inspired to remain upon his chosen path until he arrives at that guaranteed liberation which culminates in complete equanimity, unalloyed peace and perfect holiness.
For such a spiritual victor, it is the Truth which has become his saviour: the only saviour; it is the Truth that is his polestar leading homeward, while service is his sure means of return. The Truth is his valid passport back to the Blessed Land, and ensures all happy travellers of their final release from enslavement to all worldly delusions. Truth - experienced wholly only in service to others - is to every wayfarer of life the only worthy nourishment for the personal spirit; it evinces Love in the one who serves, which is refreshing and all-satisfying to the thirsting soul, and comforting to the yearning heart. Truth fills the one who is empty; in revealing divine promise, it restores hope and inspiration to the one who has become lost in a confused world, and it frees the person who is in bondage to self. Truth is the light at the end of the dark tunnel of all illusions born of the lower self. Every joy springs from the One Great Joy that is Truth. To seek and to find the Truth is the sole purpose of existence; it is the only spiritually worthwhile reality to live or to die for. As an everlasting, eternal spring, Truth forever flows inexorably throughout all Creation with the single intention of seeking to reveal its heart, which is Love, and this it does most perfectly in service to others.
As we offer ourselves up in service to the world, selflessly and unconditionally as surrendered instruments of the divine Will, we shall witness in reposed delight as the Great Boon beyond all limitation manifests in our lives as surely as the early sun smiles upon a fresh spring morning on a clear new day. Such a natural event is an inevitable result that we shall bring about by our inspired dedication to the good of all. By law, holy Revelation will evince itself as a corollary of that true understanding that we have now integrated into our lives; the ineffable joy of expanding spiritual emancipation will be realised due to our right attitude; and Heaven's ever-unfolding splendour will become an eternally-assured reality for us in accord with our wise resolution to love all equally.
